My name is Alistair Lattimore and I’m a thirty something years old coffee addicted atypical geek living on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
In a former life, I worked as a software developer for Mantra Group, who are the largest Australian hotel operator with more than 100 hotels spread across Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Fiji. I left my programming job and moved into the digital marketing department as a founding member, where I spent my time improving the search engine rankings, conversion rate, product development and web analytics for their ecommerce business. After working for Mantra Group for nearly 10 years, in 2014 I resigned and have moved to Wotif to head up their search engine marketing team which is turning out to be a blast.
I’ve always been fascinated with the internet from when I first laid my eyes on it back in the late 1990’s and since then it has been a very large part of my life. I love everything about software development, the endless possibilities and solving problems. Despite the fact that I don’t work in a software engineering role anymore, my fascination with technical pursuits hasn’t faded and #ifdebug is a place to collect my more geeky thoughts, not suited to my digital marketing blog Convergent Media.
When I’m not at work, you’re more than likely going to find me:
- spending time with my wonderful wife Claire
- playing with my two beautiful kids, Hugo & Evie
- listening to music
- watching movies
- playing squash
- watching some sort of sport
- enjoying good food and company
By night, I like to explore things that the day job doesn’t really permit for. As you’re likely going to find out, that exploration has lead me to the Python programming language and the Django web framework.
